With about 50 cars in the pits we knew it was going to be a race of survival.
We were able to have a good draw as we started 3rd in our heat and finished 2nd.
This gave us more time to relax, go over the car again and develop our game
plan for the race.
Our plan was to stay as close to the front as possible in order to be there at the end.
Things were going pretty good during the race and we were never lower than 15th in the
running order until we made our first pit stop at lap 108 for right side tires and an adjustment.
Then we pitted for a second time at lap 202 for a second set of right side tires and another adjustment.
So we just worked our way back to the top ten when there was an accident in front of us and unfortunately we
suffered some front end damage. Richie was able to hold on to a 9th place finish even with the damage.
Our next race is at Richie's favorite track White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH on Saturday September 13th. We hope to see you there.
Racing Recap 7/30/08
On Wednesday July 30th we raced at All Star Speedway in Epping, New
Hampshire. This was a rain make-up from June 28th. We were all
qualified and starting on the pole for the 200 lap race. Our car was
fast all day and we took off with a very comfortable lead over the
rest of the field. There was
some cautions in the first 80 laps but we maintained the lead
through all of them once the cars spanned out. On Lap 81 there was a
caution and we decided to pit for right side tires. There was 14
cars that pitted at this time and we were the first in and the first
out but when we started racing the car just didn't feel the same.
Richie held on for as long as he could but on lap 161 he had to pit
because he could not even see to drive, the vibration was so bad.
This was definitely a very big heart break for us. We hope to make
up for it at the next race in Wiscasset on August 17th. Hope to see
you there!
( June 28, 2008) Sorry about no
update last week from Wiscasset but we were having some computer
problems. We did race at Wiscasset and finished 7th.
We are having a hard time getting the car balanced at this track but
we are still working on it, and will hopefully hit the right
combination at the next race.
Richie started third in the second heat and finished third, giving
him the starting position of 6th for the feature.
Richie started the feature thinking he had a decent car and on the
first lap the sway bar started hitting the pavement causing a push
going in. Within the first 25 laps he got hit from behind and spun
out and had to start at the rear. He started working his way towards
the front when a car cut down into him, throwing our tow off. He
actually had a pretty good day for all
the bad luck he had to overcome. He finished 5th with the car in one
piece and happy to finish that high.
After a very long winter we finally got to to race this past
weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It had taken all winter to
completely tear our cars down and get them ready for the upcoming
season, but we are ready.
