The day started out looking pretty
good for us. The weather looked to be cooperating and the car was
pretty good right off the trailer. We started outside pole in the
first heat, and finished 3rd, which put us in the 5th starting spot
for the feature. Throughout the race we were running
in the top 5 until a restart with about 50 to go. We were on the
outside and got taken to the back by a slow car. Just when we
started to make our way back to the front the rain came and they
through the checkers. We ended up with a 6th place finish. With the
race over we packed up and headed home, and our day was about to get
a lot worse. About 15 minutes outside of Bartlett, NH on route 302
we hit a moose, and totaled our truck ( the trailer and race car
came out of the accident just fine). We hope to be at Star speedway
on Wed night, if we can find a truck to haul our trailer with. Hope
to see you there.
Racing Recap 7/12/08
While preparing for Saturdays race at Thompson, we found out that
we had broken pistons. We had to change to our back up motor at the
last minute. Needless to say we had a rough
week
before we even got to the track. When Richie went out for his first
practice the clutch was gone. Luckily we had a spare clutch. We drew
the 10th starting spot in the 1st heat. We finished 5th in the heat
and started the feature 6th on the grid. Amongst all the chaos on
the track we managed to finish the race in 7th spot, and the car is
still in one piece. Next we go to Groveton, NH on July 26th hope to
see you there.
Racing Recap 7/05/08
We finally got some good weather for racing. We started out in
the first practice by losing our power steering pump. In took the
rest of the first practice and the beginning of the next to change
it. We started 4th in the first heat, and
finished 2nd giving us the 4th starting spot for the feature. About
1/2 way through the feature the car started leaking oil, and
smoking. Around lap 100 we got together with another car and we were
put to the rear and penalized a lap. With 25 laps to go the right
front of the car caught fire, and we had to pull it into the pits,
ending our day with a 17th place finish. Next we head to Thompson,
CT and we are hoping for better luck!
Rain Ruins Race Weekend Again.
( June 28, 2008) Sorry about no
update last week from Wiscasset but we were having some computer
problems. We did race at Wiscasset and finished 7th.
We are having a hard time getting the car balanced at this track but
we are still working on it, and will hopefully hit the right
combination at the next race.
Richie started third in the second heat and finished third, giving
him the starting position of 6th for the feature.
Richie started the feature thinking he had a decent car and on the
first lap the sway bar started hitting the pavement causing a push
going in. Within the first 25 laps he got hit from behind and spun
out and had to start at the rear. He started working his way towards
the front when a car cut down into him, throwing our tow off. He
actually had a pretty good day for all
the bad luck he had to overcome. He finished 5th with the car in one
piece and happy to finish that high.
After a very long winter we finally got to to race this past
weekend at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. It had taken all winter to
completely tear our cars down and get them ready for the upcoming
season, but we are ready.
